Matthew Bretzer:

What makes Discovery Co-op a great place to work is the people. Every day, I get to connect with customers, share conversations, and build relationships that make my job feel meaningful. Being a part of a supportive, friendly team makes a huge difference. I always feel encouraged and appreciated by everyone at Co-op.

I’ve had great opportunities to learn and grow at my job. I started as a part-time employee, moved into full-time, and then became a supervisor at the gas bar, where I built strong leadership and customer service skills. Later, I transitioned to Grocery and advanced to Clerk 3, taking on more responsibilities and supporting a larger team. Each step has helped me develop stronger communication, problem-solving, and management skills, and I appreciate the support and trust that have allowed me to continue growing in my role.

Kristina Davis:

I have incredible job satisfaction with Discovery Co-op. I am the Payroll & Benefits Co-ordinator, and I make a difference for 340 team members because they can depend on accurate & timely processing of their pay. I have grown in my role with a major upgrade of HR software, which is robust and cutting-edge. Co-operative values are not just in our name; I am encouraged to connect with payroll clerks at other local co-ops and volunteer in the community. The best part of my job is coordinating with a great HR team so that successful outcomes can be optimized. I am proud to belong to an organization that employs over 50 high school students as young as 14, giving them a great start to their working life with extensive training and mentoring.

Tam Nguyen:

What I enjoy most about working at Discovery Co-op is the people and the friendly environment. I feel welcomed and supported by my coworkers and managers. I enjoy working as part of a team and helping customers whenever I can. Every day gives me a chance to meet different people and learn something new. I also appreciate that Discovery Co-op cares about its employees and the community. It makes me proud to be part of a workplace where people work together and support each other.

Working at Discovery Co-op has given me many opportunities to learn and improve my skills. I have learned how to communicate better with customers and coworkers. I have also become more confident working as part of a team. My role has helped me become more responsible and comfortable handling different situations. I appreciate having the opportunity to learn from my coworkers and gain new experience. These experiences have helped me grow both personally and professionally.

Michelle Tan:

I really enjoy the people I work with and being part of a team. I like helping customers and seeing my team work together to get things done. Since becoming a supervisor, I’ve learned a lot about leadership, communication, problem-solving, and dealing with different situations. I feel that I’ve grown a lot in my role, and I’m always looking for opportunities to learn something new and become a better leader.

Dawson Guenther:

What I enjoy most about working at Discovery Co-op is the staff. I have had so much enjoyment in my years working at Discovery Co-op, getting to know everyone and building connections.
I have had very good opportunities to grow within Discovery Co-op, becoming a manager. I have learned and grown personally and professionally. The support systems have been so important to my growth and development as a manager. I would recommend Discovery Co-op to anyone willing to grow in a supportive and positive work environment.

Brian Frijouf:

In my many years at the Co-op, I have found many opportunities to grow and learn. Starting as a school part-timer, then becoming regular part-time to full-time, and finally supervisor. My journey was helped along by many managers and supervisors who took the time to pass on their knowledge and experiences to help with my growth in Discovery Co-op.
Helping team members grow in their work experience at Discovery Co-op. Learning about differences in culture and ways to do jobs. Watching people, I worked with grow and succeed with the Co-op. Inclusive culture from the CEO to the managers, Discovery Co-op shows leadership in supporting the Battlefords in many ways like the swimming pool, Central Park, and food bank, to name a few.
